As temperatures begin to heat up, children are at a serious risk for heat stroke, also called hyperthermia, when left alone even for a few minutes in a closed vehicle.
In 2008, at least 42 children across the United States died from heat stroke caused by being left or trapped in a vehicle.

 Whether at a professional show or in the backyard, fireworks can be fun to watch – but they can also be very dangerous. Don’t ever let kids play with fireworks, period. The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to watch them at a community event where professionals handle them.
If adults decide to use fireworks, children should watch from a safe distance with plenty of adult supervision to make sure they don’t get too close.
In 2007, an estimated 2,600 children ages 14 and under were treated in U.S. emergency rooms for injuries involving fireworks from the middle of June until the middle of July.
