About Safe Kids Buckle Up
Safe Kids Buckle Up is Safe Kids Worldwide’s child passenger safety program. Since 1996, the General Motors Corporation has served as Safe Kids Buckle Up's exclusive funding source and helped build Safe Kids Buckle Up into a multifaceted national initiative, bringing motor vehicle safety messages to children and families through community and dealer partnerships.

What We Do
Safe Kids Buckle Up offers simple, effective programs and strategies to keep children safer both in and around vehicles. We teach families how to:
- Properly restrain children in age- and weight-appropriate car seats or booster seats.
- Keep children safer in and around vehicles.
- Help prevent heat stroke and trunk entrapment.
- Teach older children about making good vehicle safety decisions even when a parent is not there to guide them.
How We Get Things Done
Safe Kids Buckle Up’s community education and programs are conducted through Safe Kids USA’s 600 local coalitions and chapters. We reach families in a variety of settings, including:
- Car seat checkup events
- Permanent inspection stations
- Mobile Car Seat Check Up Vans
- Community health events
- General Motors dealerships
